Tuesday, August 5, 2014 Wow! We overslept past our usual rising time around 7 AM. We woke up around 7:45. I guess we were out of sinc since we changed to Eastern Time. We hurried along with our chores and left the campground by 9:00. It had rained last night around dinnertime and some things were still a little messy, but nontheless, we got on the road only 1/2 hour later than usual. It was sunny, warm, and humid–typical of Florida at this time of year. Our ride was uneventful with a few stops for restrooms breaks, tire checks, and fuel fill-ups. We got our usual afternoon showers north of Tampa and it rained heavily. Heavy rain + road construction + completely worn out trailer tires = stressful driving. It rained heavily for about 10 mintues and when the road construction ended, so did the rain. What a way to end the trip! We arrived home to Palmetto at 2:30.
We unloaded a lot of what we could today and will finish unloading tomorrow. Tomorrow after a quick cleaning, inside and out, we’ll deliver the trailer to its storage facility until our next trip. We’ll have some unpacking to do and re-opening of the house and all that that entails. It’ll take a few days to get back in the swing of things and settle into the lazy days of summer in Florida. I’m glad I was able to share this trip and our experiences with everyone who decided to follow along. This trip was my dream for many years and it finally came true. I have to thank Bob for helping to make it a reality. He did all the driving (except for about 5 miles), pulling the trailer across the country for a total of 8,820 miles on this trip. Only about 1000 of those miles were without the trailer. He is the best traveling partner a person could ask for. What great memories we’ve created and I look forward to our next great adventure together. Happy trails!!
