Sept. 24, 2016 St. Andrew SP to Topsail Hill Preserve SP

Today we made the short drive (46 miles) to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.  The drive was pleasant through lots of pine forest along the coast.  We arrived here just a little before 1:00 (the checkout time) and our site was empty.  This state park is more like an RV resort with large sites, a swimming pool, and full hook-ups.

It is also listed as the Gregory Moore RV Resort and it sure seems like it was an RV resort at one time.  What a pleasant surprise!  We enjoyed our stay at St. Andrew State Park, but the site was small and had small water canals on both sides.  There wasn’t much room for us to sit outside and not enough room for Auggie as well.  The park was nice, but next time we would request a site along the water’s edge.  There were some nice large sites there. However, this park is not like a state park at all.  It is awesome!

This site is huge and has a lot of room for Auggie to roam outside.  He has his little “park” area.

Can you find him in this picture?  Follow the yellow rope. He is onto a squirrel that seems to be playing hide and seek with him.

We set up in less than 30 minutes and were enjoying our roomy site.  Auggie spent most of the afternoon outside and we were able to enjoy the outdoors as well.  The park is pretty full for this time of the year, because it is a popular spot for the locals and snowbirds. We will use this as our home base and do a lot of exploring around the area from here for the next 3 days.  We want to check out Destin and Ft. Walton Beach.

We had an early dinner and we able to get in a walk with Auggie before the sun set.  We had a pleasant walk and met a lot of friendly dogs along the way.
