May 31 Englewood to Palm Harbor Marina

As the sun was setting last night, we watched thunderstorms off in the distance move north.  There was plenty of thunder and lightning, along with some rain inland, but we had none and were rewarded with a beautiful rainbow.

We got up to calm winds, hot temps, and high humidity so we decided to change our plans slightly and duck into Palm Harbor Marina for a night to get some relief from the heat.  In the marina, we can enjoy our AC more readily and take a refreshing dip in their pool.  We took the short 7 mile ride to Palm Island Marina.

Once we docked, Auggie was anxious to put his paws on dry land, so we took a walk where he could stretch his legs and engage in his favorite past-time—hunting down geckos.  We spent the afternoon at the pool and enjoyed the company of other boaters from Key West.

Later in the afternoon, we had a thunderstorm rumble through and drop some much-needed rain, but it didn’t last long.  We enjoyed our evening at the dock and planned to leave in the morning.
