Littleton, CO July 25, 2014

Friday, July 25, 2014 We slept in as we didn’t need to go anywhere early. Bob did a little repair work on the trailer. One of the plastic fender covers came loose in the wind yesterday.

I did a load of wash at the laundromat here in the park. It was cheap and conveniently located right across the street. We made plans with Bob’s sister, Suzy, to pick up the 3 kids, Ashley, Bennett, and Chloe and meet her over at their new microbrewery at 4:00. It was a beautiful sunny day and quite warm. There was a little bit of a breeze and without that it would have been HOT. The view from the campsite is of the foothills. What a great view we have!

This state park campground is very nice. The sites are far apart which makes for wonderful privacy. They have a lake with a swimming area, a marina, bike trail, boat rental, horseback riding, and a restaurant. We hung out in the afternoon and watched the clouds roll in over the mountains. It looks like the clouds bring afternoon showers, but the rain is desperately needed. We left the campground at 3:00 and did a few errands on the way to pick up the kids. It started to rain lightly as we drove out to Highlands Ranch. We picked up the kids at the house and we all went over to the microbrewery.

Three Freaks Brewery opened on June 14 and is brewing 4 kinds of beers. This is their logo designed by my godson, Christian. Check it out!

Jeff, Suzy’s husband, gave us a tour and a description of his brewing process while we waited for Suzy to come from work. We tried a sampler to taste each of the beers. My favorite was Last Man Standing, but they were all good.

Suzy arrived around 4:30 and we visited in the brewery for awhile. This is Bob and Suzy and Suzy with her daughters, Chloe and Ashley.

After awhile, we left to go have dinner with Suzy and the kids. We ate at Sweet Tomatoes–a salad buffet place, with soups, desserts, and pasta. We ate our fill and then headed back to Suzy’s for a little while. We got to meet Chloe’s gecko, Lilly, and their dog, Roxie.

Lilly is a very unique gecko with beautiful coloring. According to Chloe who is an expert on geckos, Lilly’s fat tail shows that she is very healthy. She eats crickets and mealworms. Roxie is a sweetheart and can do lots of tricks.

Around 8:00, we headed back to the campground after our visit. It had been raining lightly since we left the restaurant and by the time we left Suzy’s, the sun had come out and a beautiful rainbow appeared. That’s two days in a row now.

Once we got back to the campground, I walked Auggie now that the rain had let up. We watched a little TV before calling it a night. Tomorrow we’ll meet everyone at the ball diamond for Bennett’s baseball game.

  1. Cindy – I’ve been catching up on the blog every day. We’ll make it to Glacier National Park one of these days. One minor correction – Patrick designed the 3Freaks logo, not Christian.
