Cayo Costa to Palm Harbor

Friday, April 18, 2014 Change of plans–again. Looks like there will be no beachcombing today. Winds are blowing 15 mph and severe thunderstorms are on the way this afternoon and evening. We had breakfast and discussed our plans. Auggie got a very windy, wavy ride to shore and we walked in the park.

.

Once back on the boat, we hauled anchor and were on our way about 11:00.

We were joined by a dolphin who rode our wave along our port side for quite awhile.

We timed the opening of the Boca Grande Bridge perfectlly and were at our marina for the night at noon. We will spend one night at Palm Harbor and hopefully be abe to stay in Englewood Beach tomorrow.

We got all tied up and Auggie was ready for a walk.

We checked out the pool/hot tub area and walked past the restaurant. We ran into our neighbors from Palmetto who were traveling on their sailboat and chatted with them for awhile. This is their boat in the marina.

Back on the boat, we put the cover up before the rains came and relaxed in the cockpit. The wind picked up and we could see a wall cloud moving across the sky towards us. Then the wind changed direction and the temperature dropped noticeably. The rain finally came and pelted the canvas making a deafening sound. We continued to sit out back under the shelter of the cover and watch the rains come. We watched the radar to see what the storm was doing. There was a severe thunderstorm watch issued for our area until 7 PM. We were glad to be tied to the dock. We had cocktails while it rained and then made dinner inside. Auggie got his walk after dinner and we relaxed with some TV.
